A large-scale study conducted by the University of Oxford found that ivermectin did not provide a clinically meaningful benefit in treating COVID-19. Additionally, a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded that treatment with ivermectin did not result in a lower incidence of hospitalization or prolonged emergency department observation among patients with COVID-19. 
Given the current scientific consensus and guidance from leading health authorities, ivermectin is not considered an effective treatment for COVID-19. Its primary and established use remains in treating parasitic infections.
